U.S. Coast Guard "MayDay" Procedure |

1. Tune VHF Rdio to Channel 16
|
|
2. Say "MAYDAY, MAYDAY, MAYDAY" (3 Times)
|
|
3. Say "This is (followed by the name of the vessel in distress spoken 3 times and
the call sign or vessel registration number spoken once."
|
|
4. Repeat both "MAYDAY" and the vessel name once.
|
|
5. Give the Location in Longitude and Latitude or distance from a Landmark.
|
|
6. Identify the nature of the distress
|
|
7. Identify kind of assistance desired.
|
|
8. Identify the number of persons on board and how many need medical attention.
|
|
9. Provide any other information which might facilitate the rescue (Color of the boat, etc)
|
|
10. End with the word "Over"
